The Future of AI Agents: What the Next 12 Months Will Bring
By Gennoor Tech·November 24, 2025
Predicting AI is humbling work. But based on clear trajectories in model capabilities, tooling maturity, and enterprise adoption patterns, here is what we expect to see unfold.
Prediction 1: Agent Marketplaces
Just as we have app stores today, expect agent marketplaces where enterprises can discover, evaluate, and deploy pre-built AI agents. Microsoft, Salesforce, and ServiceNow are all moving in this direction. The agents will be configurable, auditable, and domain-specific.
Prediction 2: MCP Becomes Infrastructure
MCP will move from "interesting protocol" to "assumed infrastructure" — the way HTTP is for web or SQL is for databases. Every enterprise tool vendor will offer an MCP server. Building AI integrations without MCP will feel like building websites without REST APIs.
Prediction 3: The Agent-Human Handoff Matures
The biggest challenge with AI agents is not intelligence — it is knowing when to ask for help. Expect sophisticated escalation patterns where agents recognize their confidence boundaries and hand off to humans seamlessly, with full context preserved.
Prediction 4: Regulation Catches Up
AI regulations will become more specific and enforceable. Organizations without governance frameworks will face compliance pressure. The companies investing in responsible AI now will have a significant competitive advantage.
What to Do Now
Build your AI foundation: data layer, governance framework, and evaluation pipeline. These are not exciting, but they are what let you move fast when the next breakthrough arrives — and it always arrives sooner than expected.
